What is Tooth Trauma?

Tooth trauma can occur for a variety of different reasons. Some of the most common causes of tooth trauma include:

Falling and breaking one or more teeth

Being hit in the face, especially during sports

Biting down and breaking or fracturing a tooth

What Can Be Done for Tooth Trauma?

Because of the severity of tooth trauma and the amount of pain it can cause, it’s important to get into the office as soon as feasibly possible. First, an exam and x-rays will be done in order to determine the correct treatment plan. In some cases, simple bonding can be done to repair the tooth, however, it is not uncommon to need crowns, bridges and even implant work to rectify the trauma and restore order to a patient’s smile.
