Orthodontic Treatment – Correction Of Malocclusion

Dev Web • Dec 12, 2019

Orthodontic treatment is the process of correcting malocclusion. Experts say that about 90% of the world’s population has certain defects in the arrangement of teeth. It’s just that for some people this is pronounced, while for others it’s pretty well hidden and invisible to others.

Why is orthodontic treatment necessary?

People do not think about the usefulness or harm of their bite and, in most cases, resort to correcting the bite because of its unaesthetic appearance. When incorrectly positioned teeth spoil a smile or affect the structure of the face (as an example, a distal or mesial bite), the patient makes an appointment with the orthodontist, and he prescribes an individual orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic treatment on the eliners is the most comfortable, fast and inconspicuous for others! There are such cases when the patient is happy with everything in his smile; however, orthodontists strongly recommend that he correct the occlusion. This is due to the fact that improper tooth positioning can cause serious problems not only with the patient’s teeth themselves, but also with health:

  • Poor chewing of food due to the loose closing of the contacts of the teeth is often the cause of stomach ulcers and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Wrong bite is an ideal environment for the development of periodontitis. In this disease, infections in the oral cavity of a person are “dominated”, often passing to internal organs.
  • In addition, an unpleasant odor is constantly in the mouth, even if you often brush your teeth and use mouth fresheners.
  • A malocclusion always affects the temporomandibular joints (TMJ). In adulthood, a TMJ problem will cause many negative symptoms, such as severe headaches.

That is why orthodontists sometimes prescribe an orthodontic treatment for occlusion, even if the visual smile looks perfect. Pay special attention to the upper jaw, where the excessive inclination of the front teeth is visible, i.e. when the teeth lean very strongly back. In response to this, other teeth – lateral incisors – visually seem to be tilted forward. From the inside, we will see a less even upper dentition, i.e. the upper jaw looks like a trapezoid and teeth are bent, which is not the norm. In normal case the jaw should still be semicircular, semi-ellipsoidal, wide and bright. As a result of orthodontic treatment with the help of eliners, crowding of the teeth can be completely eliminated and all the problems of the patient can be in the past!
